How it works
An acre is 43,560 square feet and 40 guntas make one acre, so a gunta is 1,089 square feet. A hectare is 10,000 square metres.
Local units such as bigha, katha, cent and ground differ between places, so check your local land record rather than trusting a general factor.
Formula
Value in the new unit = value x (square metres per old unit) / (square metres per new unit).
Common questions
Are the conversions exact?
They use the standard defined factors, shown to up to 8 decimal places.
Can I convert between any two units?
Yes, choose any 'from' and 'to' unit; the table shows every unit at once.
Why does square feet to square metres not look round?
The two systems were defined separately, so the factor is usually not a round number.
