How it works
US and UK gallons are different sizes: a UK (imperial) gallon is about 20% larger. Cups, tablespoons and teaspoons here are US measures.
For cooking, small differences rarely matter; for fuel or medicine use the exact units on the label.
Formula
Value in the new unit = value x (litres per old unit) / (litres per new unit).
Common questions
Are the conversions exact?
They use the standard defined factors, shown to up to 8 decimal places.
Can I convert between any two units?
Yes, choose any 'from' and 'to' unit; the table shows every unit at once.
Why does litres to US gallons not look round?
The two systems were defined separately, so the factor is usually not a round number.
