How it works

Two discounts in a row are applied one after the other, not added together. 25% off and then 10% off is 32.5% off in total, not 35%.

When comparing offers, convert both to the final price: a 'buy more, save more' offer may beat a bigger-looking percentage.

Formula

Sale price = original x (1 - discount 1) x (1 - discount 2). Discount % = (1 - sale / original) x 100.

Common questions

Why is my total discount lower than the sum?

The second discount applies to an already reduced price.

Is GST included?

No; apply the GST calculator to the sale price if needed.

Can I find the original price?

Use the percentage calculator's reverse option: original = sale / (1 - discount).
